Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

See a rare black dragon, one of only 31 black dragons in the United States and the only one on public display. Our newest exhibit challenges visitors and students to understand myth in terms of science, presenting real animals that may have inspired mythical ones.

Educators, teachers and administrators are all welcome. This is a professional event; no spouses or children please. We encourage you to bring fellow teachers. However when you call, please be prepared with each educator’s unique contact information and IMAX® movie choice when registering.

The Maritime Aquarium is conveniently located just off of Interstate 95 in Norwalk, CT. Go green with a trip on Metro-North Railroad. We are a 15-minute walk from the South Norwalk station. If you cannot bring your students to the Aquarium, ask how our Traveling Teachers can bring the Aquarium to your classroom.
