The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk invites you to a special open house for educators, February 10, from 5-8 p.m. Enjoy a reception and refreshments with Aquarium staff. Take a guided tour of the Aquarium led by our educators (including behind-the-scenes). Be first to get a sneak preview of our NEW permanent exhibit, Go Fish: Long Island Sound and Beyond (opening Feb. 12). It explores our relationship with fish, past, present and future. And it encourages visitors of all ages to Respect the Fish! Also enjoy a screening of our newest IMAX(r) film, Mysteries of the Great Lakes.

Learn how our standards -based programs can energize curricula for students pre-kindergarten through high school.

There will be a special group visit offer for all who attend.

PLUS, every attendant receives 4 free Hollywood IMAX movies. With each new movie debut, we will send you a free pass. Expected features include Avatar, Disney and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Shrek Forever After, Toy Story 3, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Tron Legacy.

Stick around after the Aquarium’s open house and socialize with your fellow educators. SoNo’s famous Loft Bar will host a special after party for educators starting at 8 p.m. It is an easy walk to Washington Street, less than one block from the Aquarium’s IMAX entrance.

  • Go big, really big: Spotlight on Whales, Feb. 3 & 4; March 3 & 4; April 7 & 8. For grades 2 and up.
  • Save the sturgeon: IMAX Mysteries of the Great Lakes opens Jan. 15.
  • Respect the fish(sm): New exhibit Go Fish! Long Island Sound and Beyond opens Feb. 12. NEW 30,000-gallon tank. Interactive and multimedia experiences teach visitors to Respect the Fish!
  • Let the little ones learn: Spotlight on Small Fry, March 9-11 & 16-18, Pre-K through Grade 2. Opportunity to help young students bond with nature in a setting that is focused, contained and controlled. Group admission these days is limited to Pre-K to Grade 2 students to ensure an optimal experience.
  • Love the penguins: African Penguins exhibit continues.
  • Explore Africa: African Underwater Safari exhibit continues.
  • See amazing sea life: IMAX Deep Sea now through March 18.
  • Join the Hubble rescue mission: IMAX Hubble opens March 19.
  • Spot some seals: Winter Creature Cruises, select days now through April.

We are conveniently located just off of Interstate 95 in Norwalk, Conn. Go green with a trip on Metro-North Railroad. We are a 15-minute walk from the South Norwalk station. If you cannot bring your students to the Aquarium, ask how our Traveling Teachers can bring the Aquarium to your classroom.
