Whales and Other Endangered Species
For Grades 2 and up

Live animals will enhance your students’ learning about: the threats to marine animals, land animals and even entire ecosystems; the adaptations and behaviors that help such animals as whales, seals, otters, wolves and raptors survive; and also the small day-to-day remedies that can help conserve them.
Students can handle real whale artifacts, discover how blubber insulates and learn about conservation efforts for other endangered species. Featured live animals include sharks, sea turtles, otters, frogs, seals and a variety of fishes and invertebrates. And see humpbacks, orcas and other whales life-size on our giant IMAX screen with special showings of the film “Whales.”
These special activities have been developed to support state science standards for Connecticut and New York. They will help your students understand the importance of interdependencies in ecosystems and show how changes in an environment cause some organisms to survive and others to die or relocate.
