Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Looks closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

NOTE: Last admission is at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, as we prepare for our annual fundraiser, the Red Apple Gala. The 4:00 p.m. IMAX movie is cancelled for Thursday, April 23. Aquarium entrance for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is through the fence directly across from the Parking Garage, nearest the corner of Marshal and North Water Streets.
