Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

Aquar.Walk-In Whale 4events

Giant Walk-In Whale

When:  10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where:  Newman's Own Hall

Experience the scale of a whale by visiting this 43-foot life-size inflatable humpback whale, the species recently seen in Long Island Sound!  Take a selfie with a whale. Then play Jonah and go inside it to see its tongue, heart, lungs, stomachs and other organs.  The Giant Walk-In Whale is here as part of our "Whale of a Month" celebration. (Note: please be sure to wear or bring socks. No bare feet inside the whale.)

Jiggle a Jelly: Touch Exhibit

Do something you’ve been told not to do all your life: touch a jellyfish! This fun display lets you safely touch live moon jellyfish, a common local species whose stings are generally benign to people.
