Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

Create a food budget and calculate the monthly costs to feed the Aquarium's sharks. And play Pet Bingo and Animal Charades to understand how our pets communicate with us.  2 hrs., 45 mi. $18 per Scout. /  Try-it: 1 hr., 45 mi. $15 per Scout.

You'll have to come to your senses – all five – to earn this badge. Use your nose and ears to play an otter scent and seal vocalization game. Take a taste test to create a map of your tongue's taste buds. And you'll find an investigation of the body forms of live intertidal animals very ... touching.  2 hrs., 45 mi. $18 per Scout. /  Try-it: 1 hr., 45 mi. $15 per Scout.
