Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

Sensory-Friendly Morning

For some, the Aquarium is a place with too many stimuli. So we're offering special mornings to give guests with sensory-processing differences a fun, comfortable and accepting environment. We are also opening two hours early each morning and offering a special IMAX® movie presentation.

Spring-Break Fun

Costs:  animal encounters, free;  face painting, $5

Visit during area schools' spring-break week to enjoy some very special visitors who will enhance your day.

A bearded dragon – one of the species featured in "Dragons: Real or Myth?" – will come out of the exhibit for Meet-the-Dragon encounters from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 & 3-4 p.m. each day.  Touch or hold one of these docile creatures.

And face-painters from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. each day will turn girls & boys into superheroes, lions, dragons and other magical beings.
