Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

Fish Tales: Story Time

When: 10:15-11 a.m. each Wednesday

Where:  second-floor Play Space

Price: Free with Aquarium admission

Fish Tales is an interactive story time for toddlers and parents/caregivers. Each week, we'll sing songs and rhymes, dance, and read books with Aquarium Educators, and maybe meet an animal ambassador! Space is limited to the first 20 children. Parent/caregiver must be present.

Study marine biodiversity from the water’s surface down to the bottom for a first-hand understanding of Long Island Sound's interdependent marine life. We utilize such sampling techniques as a plankton tow, trawl net and biodredge that generally bring up a variety of fish, crabs, mollusks and more right out of Long Island Sound right before your eyes!
