"We've taken a few educational boat trips over the years but yours was by far the best all-around experience. The highlight had to be the breadth of sea life we pulled up and investigated, interacted with and, of course, learn about."

Sand Tiger Shark Fun Fact

Look closely at the sand tiger sharks in the "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit. Their snout and jaws are covered in tiny holes. These are receptors for the sharks' "sixth sense" – their ability to detect bioelectric fields emitted by other animals (including potential prey).

Registration is now closed for the 2017 Spring Vacation Adventures.  See you in 2018!

There’s a different theme each day for younger kids (ages 6 to 8), who can attend one, some or all five days ... you decide!  Older kids (ages 9-12) take part in our popular week-long “Behind-the-Scenes Science” program.

All programs meet from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.  Pre- and post-care available.
Bring a bag lunch, a snack (packed separately) and an appetite for adventure.

Ages 9-12 Week-long Program

$500 ($450 for Members)

"Behind-the-Scenes Science"

Take a deeper look at how science and technology are involved in our everyday actions. Campers will go behind-the-scenes at the aquarium to learn how we care for some of our larger animals and how our life-support systems are engineered, take a cruise on our hybrid-electric research vessel to observe the unseen world of Long Island Sound, and watch "Dream Big" on our IMAX® screen. They’ll work with our remotely operated vehicle, build a marble roller coaster, and participate in some unique engineering challenges. Special 9 a.m. drop-off time on Wednesday for cruise.

Ages 6-8  One-Day Programs

Each $100/day ($90 for Members)

Mon., April 10 – "Water Wonders"

Water is all around us and vital to animals and plants. During this watery-fun day, campers will discover the properties of water, why certain things float and others sink, how to make a snowflake, and meet a variety of animals who call the water home. Learn how to be a Sound steward and protect Long Island Sound and other water sources.

Tues., April 11 – Mini Engineers

Calling all aspiring innovators to this exciting program inspired by our newest IMAX movie, "Dream Big." Campers will participate in a variety of design-and-build activities, including setting up a basic aquarium, designing parachutes, building bridges, and creating wind-resistant structures. Additional activities include an Aquarium tour and a meet-and-greet with our animal ambassadors.

Wed., April. 12 – Junior Aquarist

Young scientists dive into marine biology in this exciting program. Children will have hands-on experiences with animals, including turtles and sea stars. They’ll meet one of our seal trainers and attend a private feeding. They’ll play a variety of aquarium-themed games and participate in hands-on-activities, including making an enrichment toy to present to an Aquarium animal.

Thurs., April 13 – Shark Safari

Get a real feel for sharks – literally – when we stop by the Aquarium’s Shark & Ray Touch Pool as we spend the day exploring how sharks are similar to – but also different from – other fish. We’ll discover sharks’ special adaptations, meet live animal ambassadors in the classroom, go behind the scenes to see how the Aquarium cares for its resident sharks, and more. Watch a scuba presentation and meet our dive team.

Fri., April 14 – Ocean Mammals

Campers today learn what makes seals, otters, whales, and other ocean mammals so special and how they are adapted to survive in their watery world. Highlights include a private seal show with our mammal trainers, making an otter enrichment treat, whale blubber activity and so much more. Prompt 9:30 a.m. drop-off on Friday is required for private seal feeding at 9:45 a.m.
