Shop for sweets for your sweetie or for yourself among sharks, seals, sea turtles and other marine animals when The Chocolate Expo takes over The Maritime Aquarium.
The Chocolate Expo, one of the largest consumer-oriented chocolate events in the United States, features about 40 of the region’s best chocolatiers and specialty-food vendors offering tastings and sales of their products. They’ll be set up throughout the Aquarium’s galleries.
The Maritime Aquarium stays open two hours longer than normal (from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) – and at a lower admission price than normal – making the event an outstanding value.
Expo producer Marvin Baum said The Chocolate Expo is for people who are serious about chocolate. “Vendors at the Expo typically offer small tasting-sized portions of their products,” Baum said. “Think of the chocolate tastings as you might think of a wine tasting at a winery: you get a small sample to try and get to talk with the person who made the product. If you like what you’ve tasted, you can purchase that product directly at the show for yourself or to give as gifts.”
Expo/Aquarium visitors enjoy not only traditional and gourmet chocolates – plus the always-popular chocolate fountain – but also unique offerings like chocolate tarts, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-covered bacon, chocolate crepes and waffles, and even chocolate-infused Brussels sprouts. Non-chocolate goodies will include gourmet tomato sauces, empanadas, nut butters, crackers, jams, gelatos, pickles, sodas and more.

Chocolate Expo, the Aquarium, free samples and celebrity chef demonstrations are ALL included in your admission.
Please note "Jiggle a Jelly" jellyfish touch exhibit is not be open during Chocolate Expo. And there are no IMAX movies Jan. 31 because the theater hosts celebrity chef demonstrations.
Crowd notice: this event is very well-attended. Busiest times are between noon and 4 p.m. Please plan accordingly. Parents find it more convenient to carry children or bring small strollers.
