A sukkah for Sukkot

The Maritime Aquarium is taking special steps to help our many Jewish friends celebrate the Festival of Sukkot Sept. 18-25.

We have erected a traditional dwelling – called a sukkah – in which Jewish visitors can eat, snack and rest during the seven-day celebration.

Special thanks to Rabbi Levi Stone of the Schneerson Center for Jewish Life in Westport for helping us plan for the12-by-20-foot sukkah, which is outside the seal exhibit on our riverfront courtyard.

(We also have installed a new kosher vending machine stocked with appropriate snacks.)
