Creature Encounter
Daily - July & August

This exciting new series – which is free with Aquarium general admission – offers informal encounters with live animals from Long Island Sound and its watershed, while asking you to do your part to improve the creatures’ habitats.

The “Creature Encounter” presentation will feature the diamondback terrapin, a Connecticut turtle that prefers brackish water (a mix of salt and fresh waters). From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visit the staffed “Creature Encounter” booth in the Aquarium’s watershed/otter gallery to touch real turtle artifacts and for a hands-on demonstration to understand how our activities throughout the Sound’s watershed affect the health of the Sound and its inhabitants.

Althought the presentation is FREE the Aquarium will ask all participants to sign a “Clean Water Pledge” to make simple changes at home that will help to protect our local habitats and wildlife. General admission required.
