Coral Rescue Effort

Pollution, climate change, boat damage and other threats have taken a severe toll on coral reefs worldwide. Now a new disease, of unknown cause or cure, is killing reefs in Florida.

In a massive rescue effort, disease-free Florida corals were collected and are being cared for here and at other institutions of the AZA (Association of Zoos & Aquariums). After the disease outbreak passes, these corals will be returned to Florida to ensure the survival of the important iconic reefs.
