The Convergence of Arts, Ecology and Culture in the Amazon and New England

Maritime Aquarium leader teaching a lesson to students on a boat.

The Maritime Aquarium partnered with Stepping Stones Museum for Children in the international partnership between students and teachers from Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Magnet High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut and peer students living and attending school in the remote Amazonian community of São Sebastião in Brazil.

As part of this project, students from both countries were able to compare and contrast the cultural ecological impacts of their local watersheds. Both groups participated in Marine Life Study Cruises and behind-the-scenes tours at the Aquarium.
