The health and safety of our guests and staff have always been and will remain the top priority of The Maritime Aquarium. We have implemented policies and procedures in order to adhere to the recommended guidelines by the State of Connecticut and the Center for Disease Control while still ensuring our visitors enjoy an entertaining and educational experience.

As always, when you visit, our staff and signage will help guide you through the Aquarium so that you have a smooth experience, but there are some changes that you need to know both before you visit and while you are here.

Hours of Operation

The Maritime Aquarium is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • The hours of 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on mondays are reserved for Aquarium members and their paid guests only (Monday-Thursday beginning October 1)

The Aquarium is only closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. (Also please note that we close at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve.) 

Advanced Tickets Only

Aquarium members are no longer required to reserve tickets in advance of their visit, although it is recommended. Click here to reserve your spot.

In order to manage our capacity in adherence with state guidelines, all other guests will be required to reserve a specific date and arrival time ahead of their visit. Click Here for Tickets

Temporary Main Entrance

Our Main Entrance has temporarily moved to the intersection of Marshall Street and N Water Street (directly across from the Maritime Garage Main Entrance.)

IMAX® Theater

Our IMAX theater is closed until further notice. 

Visiting with a Group of 10 or More?

Group pricing is available for Schools, Summer Camps, Scouts, Students and Chaperones. Click here to learn more about group discounts.

Personal Items

  • Guests may bring strollers, wheelchairs and backpacks from home.
  • For the safety of the animals, outside food and drinks are not allowed in the Aquarium. However, we do make an exception for guests with dietary restrictions or medical conditions. If you fall into this category, please feel free to bring your own food or medication with you when you visit.
  • Due to state and CDC guidelines, face masks are required, however, costumes with full masks or head coverings are prohibited unless they are required for religious purposes or to honor cultural tradition are allowed.
  • Weapons, even with permits, are not allowed on-premises. 
  • Smoking is not allowed on Aquarium premises.

In case of inclement weather, this website may not always communicate the latest information about delayed openings or early closings.
