Enjoy a night of edge-of-your-seat storytelling through a series of inspiring short films all focusing on the big blue, as The Maritime Aquarium welcomes “the International Ocean Film Tour.”
This one-night film fest features some of the world’s most inspiring personalities, featured in stories from around the world as well as from in our own backyard. The films celebrate sailors, boarders, coral-reef conservationists and cinematographers who are doing extraordinary things.
The films will be shown on the giant video wall in Newman’s Own Hall. Tickets are $20 ($18 for members).
Expected titles include:
This annual tournament supports The Maritime Aquarium’s mission through the continuing exploration of animal and conservation issues in Long Island Sound and the oceans beyond. In addition, the funds raised provide STEM-focused education opportunities to area students, regardless of their ability to pay.
This annual fund-raising evening supports The Maritime Aquarium’s Red Apple Fund for Student Enrichment, which helps to make the Aquarium’s unique marine-science and environmental-education programs available to students and teachers in the tri-state area who otherwise may not be able to participate. After a one-of-a-kind cocktail party in the Aquarium galleries, among the seals, sharks, sea turtles and other marine life, guests then enjoy a sit-down dinner and silent and live auctions “under the big top” specially erected outside the Aquarium’s main entrance. The event includes the presentation of the annual Red Apple Awards, which honor companies, organizations, and individuals who share The Maritime Aquarium’s concern for the natural world and environmental education.
